Trekking to Everest Base Camp is one of the world’s most iconic Himalayan adventures. The Everest Base Camp Trek takes you deep into Nepal’s Khumbu region, combining spectacular mountain scenery, traditional Sherpa villages, ancient monasteries, and the legendary trail leading to the base of Mount Everest (8,849 m).
Embark on an unforgettable journey from Kathmandu to the heart of the Everest region. The adventure begins with a scenic flight to Lukla, followed by a trek through beautiful mountain villages including Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, and Lobuche before reaching Everest Base Camp at 5,364 m. Along the way, the trail offers breathtaking views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and other Himalayan giants.
One of the highlights of the Everest Base Camp Trek in Nepal is Namche Bazaar, the vibrant gateway to the Everest region and an important acclimatization stop. The journey also passes through Tengboche Monastery, one of the most significant Buddhist monasteries in the Khumbu, before continuing into the high-altitude landscape surrounding Everest Base Camp.
For panoramic Himalayan views, the trek can also include an early-morning climb to Kala Patthar (5,545 m), one of the best viewpoints for Mount Everest and the surrounding peaks. From the summit, trekkers can enjoy spectacular sunrise views across the Khumbu Himalayas.
The Everest Base Camp Trek is ideal for travelers seeking a challenging but rewarding Himalayan adventure, with comfortable teahouse accommodation and the opportunity to experience the unique culture and hospitality of the Sherpa people.
Best seasons: March–May offers pleasant trekking conditions, blooming rhododendrons, and clear mountain views. October–November is another excellent period, with stable weather, crisp skies, and outstanding Himalayan visibility.
Everest Base Camp Trek from Kathmandu: The standard itinerary begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla before starting the trek toward Everest Base Camp. We can customize the itinerary based on your available time, trekking experience, and preferred pace.
Want to extend your Everest adventure?
Add an extra acclimatization day, explore the beautiful Gokyo Valley, or combine the Everest Base Camp Trek with the Gokyo Lakes and Cho La Pass for a more adventurous Himalayan experience.
A Typical Day on the Everest Base Camp Trek
Breakfast is usually served at the teahouse around 6:30–7:00 am, with options such as eggs, porridge, pancakes, Tibetan bread, dal bhat, tea, or coffee. Most trekking days begin around 7:30–8:00 am to take advantage of the clearer morning weather.
A typical day involves approximately 5–7 hours of walking, depending on the route, altitude, and terrain. The trail passes through mountain forests, suspension bridges, stone paths, high-altitude valleys, and traditional Sherpa settlements. Your guide maintains a comfortable pace with regular breaks for hydration, photography, and acclimatization.
Lunch is usually taken at a local teahouse along the trail. In the afternoon, the trek continues toward the next overnight village, with most trekkers arriving by around 2:00–4:00 pm. This gives you time to rest, explore the village, and enjoy the surrounding Himalayan scenery.
Evenings are spent relaxing in the teahouse dining room, meeting fellow trekkers, sharing stories, and enjoying warm meals. At higher elevations, temperatures can become very cold after sunset, making the teahouse dining area a welcoming place to relax. Lights-out is usually around 8:30–9:00 pm, preparing you for another spectacular day in the Everest region.

The food was the surprise
I had braced myself for two weeks of instant noodles and instead ate better than I do at home. Dal bhat every lunch, endless tea, and the teahouses were warmer and cleaner than the photos suggested.

Second trip with HSJ, still amazing
Been trekking with this team before and the quality is consistent — good porters, an honest itinerary, no surprise upsells along the way. Can't recommend them enough for anyone considering Nepal.

Booked solo, left with new friends
Small group, great mix of people, zero drama. HSJ handled every logistic detail so all we had to do was show up, walk, and enjoy it. Already looking at which trip to book next.

Tough but so worth it
Altitude hit me for a day or two but the team looked after me really well. Would recommend building in an extra rest day if your schedule allows — the scenery makes every step worth it regardless.

Unreal views every single day
Our guide was incredible — patient, funny, and clearly loved sharing the mountains with us. Doing the Everest Base Camp Trek was easily the highlight of our year, and the whole trip was better organised than any tour I've done before.
