Namche Bazaar

The bustling Sherpa capital and gateway to the Everest region

Namche Bazaar sits at 3,440 metres in a natural amphitheatre of the Khumbu Valley and serves as the nerve centre of the Everest trekking world. This vibrant mountain town is packed with teahouses, gear shops, bakeries, and a lively Saturday market where highland Tibetan traders meet lowland Nepali merchants. It is the mandatory acclimatisation stop on the way to Everest Base Camp and an excellent base for side trips to Thame monastery, Khumjung village, and the Hotel Everest View — the world's highest hotel with a certified landing pad.
