In short
A Nepal trip from Singapore is the sum of a few lines, and only some are fixed. The flight comes first: Singapore Airlines flies non-stop from Changi to Kathmandu in about five hours, and the fare moves with school holidays and Nepal's October–November peak. The tourist visa is US$30 for 15 days, US$50 for 30 days or US$125 for 90 days (about S$38, S$64 and S$160), and park or conservation-area fees run from NPR 1,000 to NPR 3,000 (about S$9 to S$26) per entry. Hotels, guides, transport, meals and insurance depend on the trip, so ask for each in S$. HSJ Travel's Nepal trips are led by our own government-licensed Nepali guides and priced per person in S$ for two sharing.
Travellers in Singapore ask us the same two things before they book: what will Nepal cost in Singapore dollars, and what is the quote leaving out? This guide splits the total into named lines. Visa, park-fee and climate figures come from the Nepal Tourism Board, flight facts from Singapore Airlines and health advice from the CDC. Figures were checked on 7 November 2026 and converted at roughly US$1 = S$1.28 and S$1 = NPR 117, so check the day's rate before you pay.
Nepal trip cost at a glance
- Flight: Singapore Airlines, non-stop, Changi to Kathmandu, about five hours. The fare depends on the date, so price it first.
- Visa: US$30 for 15 days (about S$38), US$50 for 30 days (about S$64) or US$125 for 90 days (about S$160). Children under 10 get a free visa.
- Visa extension: a minimum of 15 days for US$45 (about S$58), then US$3 (about S$4) for each extra day.
- Park and conservation-area fees, per person per entry: Chitwan NPR 2,000 (about S$17); Sagarmatha, Annapurna and Langtang NPR 3,000 (about S$26); Shivapuri-Nagarjun NPR 1,000 (about S$9). Children under 10 are free.
- Clearest skies: October and November, which is also the peak. The monsoon runs from June to September.
- Set by your operator: hotels, guides, ground transport, domestic flights, meals, tips and insurance. Ask for each as a line in S$.
- Rates used here: US$1 = S$1.28 and S$1 = NPR 117, as approximations.
How much does a trip to Nepal cost from Singapore?
There is no single price, because 'a Nepal trip' can mean four nights of temples in Kathmandu or three weeks on a mountain trail. What stays the same is the list of lines every quote is built from. Price the ones you can look up first, then ask each operator to fill in the rest in S$.
| Line | Who sets it | How it behaves |
|---|---|---|
| Return flight, Changi to Kathmandu | Airline | Moves with the date; price it first |
| Tourist visa | Nepal government | Fixed by length of stay |
| Park or conservation-area fee | Nepal government | Fixed per person, per entry |
| Other trekking permits | Government, arranged by your operator | Ask for each by name and amount |
| Hotels or lodges | Operator | Varies with grade, season and sharing |
| Guide and support staff | Operator | Varies with days and group size |
| Ground transport | Operator | Private or shared; ask which |
| Domestic flights | Airlines, booked by your operator | Varies; weather can delay them |
| Meals, tips, personal spending | You or the operator | Depends on the meal plan |
| Travel insurance | Insurer | Required on our trips, including helicopter evacuation |
The trip type sets the shape of the bill
A city-and-temples trip is mostly hotels, a guide and transfers. A trek adds a conservation-area fee, permits, lodge stays, support staff and often a domestic flight. A jungle stay adds a park fee and activities. The cost-by-trip-type section below takes each in turn.
The date moves the flight and the hotel
The same trip costs more in the weeks Singapore families travel and in Nepal's clearest months. We cover that in the section on the cheapest time to go.
Sharing changes the per-person price
Our prices are per person for two sharing, with a single supplement shown in the quote. If you are travelling alone, ask for the single supplement up front, because it can change which of two quotes is cheaper.
Is there a direct flight from Singapore to Kathmandu?
Travellers walking to the terminal of Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu
Yes. Singapore Airlines is the only airline flying non-stop between Changi and Kathmandu, in about five hours (Singapore Airlines: Flights from Singapore to Kathmandu). Its flight, SQ442, leaves Changi in the evening and lands in Kathmandu at night; confirm the timetable when you book. Our guide to the Boeing 787-10 on the Kathmandu route for Dashain and Tihar 2026 has the flight numbers and schedule.
Other operators' pages describe connections through Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur or Delhi. A connection adds hours and a second boarding, and baggage allowances can differ by leg, so compare the whole journey and not only the fare.
Why the flight is the first line to price
Fares rise around Singapore school holidays and in Nepal's October–November peak. Ground arrangements in Nepal can often be made close to departure, but a seat on your dates cannot, so look at the fare before you fix the trip. Then build the hotels and guiding around the dates you can actually fly.
Kathmandu is the main gateway. Pokhara and Bhairahawa (for Lumbini) also have international airports, and our Nepal airports guide for Singapore travellers explains how they differ.
How much is the Nepal visa for Singaporeans, in S$?
The Nepal Tourism Board lists multiple-entry tourist visas at US$30 for 15 days, US$50 for 30 days and US$125 for 90 days, about S$38, S$64 and S$160 (Nepal Tourism Board: Tourist Visa). You can pay in US dollars or another convertible currency, and international credit cards are also accepted.
- Where: on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Pokhara International Airport, Gautam Buddha International Airport (Lumbini) and land entry points, or in advance from a Nepal diplomatic mission.
- What you need: a valid passport, a passport-size photo on a light background and the application form, which can be filled in online before you arrive.
- Children: under 10, the visa is free.
- Extension: at the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu or Pokhara, a minimum of 15 days for US$45 (about S$58), then US$3 (about S$4) a day.
- Visa from an embassy or mission: you must enter Nepal within six months of issue.
For passport validity, the online form and what to do at the airport, see our Nepal visa guide for Singaporeans. For cost, the point is simple: the visa is a small line, but it is paid in US dollars, so decide whether you will pay by card or carry cash before you leave Singapore.
National park, conservation-area and trekking permit fees
The Nepal Tourism Board publishes these entry fees for foreign visitors, per person per entry (Nepal Tourism Board: Park Entry Fees). Children under 10 are free. Fees can be paid at the Tourist Service Centre at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, or at the entry points.
| Park or area | Fee (NPR) | About (S$) |
|---|---|---|
| Chitwan National Park | 2,000 | 17 |
| Sagarmatha National Park (Everest region) | 3,000 | 26 |
| Annapurna Conservation Area | 3,000 | 26 |
| Langtang National Park | 3,000 | 26 |
| Shivapuri-Nagarjun National Park | 1,000 | 9 |
Shivapuri-Nagarjun is the one that catches Kathmandu Valley walkers, since it borders the city.

Trekking permits: what to ask your operator to list
On many trekking routes you also need a TIMS card, NPR 2,000 (about S$17) for most foreign visitors, issued through a registered agency, and since 31 March 2023 those routes also need a licensed guide (Nepal Tourism Board: TIMS Card). Restricted areas such as Upper Mustang need a separate special permit, arranged through a licensed operator. Ask every operator to name each permit, give the amount in S$ and say whether it is inside the price. A line that just says 'permits' is not enough to compare two quotes.
Hotels, guides, transport and domestic flights

Hotels and lodges
Ask for the hotel names, the number of nights in each and whether the room is shared. In Kathmandu and Pokhara the grade of hotel drives most of the difference between quotes. On a trek the lodges are simple, and the price is usually bundled, so check what the bundle covers.
Guides and support staff
On our Nepal trips you are led by HSJ Travel's own government-licensed Nepali guides. When you compare, check whether a quote names a licensed guide, how many travellers each guide looks after and whether porters are included on treks.
Ground transport
Airport transfers, the road to Chitwan or Pokhara and day trips around Kathmandu are all separate costs inside a package. A private vehicle costs more than a shared or public one; ask which the quote assumes.

Domestic flights and weather risk
Treat domestic flights as their own line, not a footnote. Flights into mountain airstrips such as Lukla depend on weather, and a delayed flight can mean an extra night in Kathmandu. Ask who pays for that night and for any rebooked flight, and whether the itinerary has a spare day built in. Our guide to flying into Lukla explains why.
How much cash in US dollars should I bring to Nepal?
There is no official figure. A practical approach:
- Bring the visa fee for each traveller in US dollars as a back-up, even if you plan to pay by card.
- Change Singapore dollars into US dollars before you fly, at a Singapore money changer or at Changi.
- Draw rupees in Kathmandu or change small amounts at licensed money changers, and keep every exchange receipt, in case you are asked to show it when you change unspent rupees back. Rules on changing rupees back can change, so check at the counter.

Meals, tips and daily spending
We do not quote one daily food figure, because it depends on where you eat. Instead, find out which meals the package covers and keep a separate S$ line for the ones it does not, plus drinks, laundry and souvenirs. Tips for guides and drivers are customary; ask your operator for a suggested amount in S$ and budget it on its own line.
What does a Nepal trip cost by trip type?
The table of lines above stays the same; what changes is which of them are large. All the trips below are on our Nepal pages; each trip page shows its own days and from-price in S$.
Culture and wellness around Kathmandu
Mostly hotels, a guide and transfers. There is no park fee unless you hike in Shivapuri-Nagarjun (NPR 1,000, about S$9). A half-day at Kopan Monastery on the northern edge of the city, or at Boudhanath and Pashupatinath, is typically a transfer and a guide, but ask whether any entry tickets, donations or course fees are extra. Wellness retreats often price accommodation and sessions together, so check what a session is.
Chitwan
The Chitwan National Park fee is NPR 2,000 (about S$17) per person. Guided jungle walks, jeep safaris and canoe rides are often priced separately from the lodge, so ask which are included. The road or domestic flight from Kathmandu is another line.
Annapurna and Poon Hill
The Annapurna Conservation Area fee is NPR 3,000 (about S$26). Add the journey to Pokhara, lodges, a guide and any other permits. Our Ghorepani Poonhill Wildlife Trek is the shorter, gentler option; the Annapurna Base Camp Trek goes further in.
Everest Base Camp
The Sagarmatha National Park fee is NPR 3,000 (about S$26). The big extra lines are the Lukla flights and the spare days that weather can use up. See the Everest Base Camp Trek for our itinerary and price.
Altitude on trips that are not treks
Altitude is not only for trekkers. Kathmandu is roughly 1,400 m, Nagarkot about 2,100 m and Lo Manthang in Upper Mustang about 3,800 m. Temperature falls roughly 6°C for every 1,000 m, and Mustang sits in a rain shadow and is mostly dry (Nepal Tourism Board: Climate). The CDC's guide to high-altitude travel and altitude illness uses Everest Base Camp as an example. If your itinerary climbs, ask for spare days and see a doctor before you fly.
When is the cheapest time to visit Nepal from Singapore?
The Nepal Tourism Board names spring and autumn as the best seasons, with the clearest skies in October and November after the monsoon. The monsoon, June to September, brings about 80% of Nepal's rain. Clear skies mean demand, so October and November are the months when flights and hotels are hardest to book.
On the Singapore side, fares rise around the school breaks in March, late May to June, September and the year end. Check the Ministry of Education calendar for your year, and read our month-by-month guide to the best time to visit Nepal from Singapore for how those breaks line up with Nepal's seasons.
The quieter months can cost less, but the trade-off is cloud, rain and more delayed flights. Ask each operator whether its quote changes by month, and do not assume it does.
What is not included in a Nepal tour package price?
Whether it is called a Nepal tour package, travel package or holiday package, the headline number rarely covers everything. Ask each operator to say, line by line, which of these are in the price:
- The return flight from Singapore.
- The visa fee.
- Park, conservation-area and other permit fees, each by name and amount.
- Domestic flights, and who pays when weather adds a night.
- All meals, or breakfast only.
- Heritage-site tickets and monastery entry.
- Jungle activities in Chitwan.
- Tips for the guide and driver.
- Travel insurance.
- The single supplement.
How to compare two quotes
- Use the same dates, hotel grade and meal plan.
- Put both in S$, per person, for two sharing.
- Add the lines that are outside each quote, then compare the totals.
- Ask how government charges are handled. On our trips the price does not rise once the deposit is paid, except for a change in a government charge, passed on at cost.
Insurance and health
Comprehensive travel insurance with helicopter evacuation is required on our trips, and it is sensible for any Nepal trip that goes above Kathmandu's altitude. For health advice before you fly, see the CDC page for Nepal. If something goes wrong in Nepal, the Nepal Police Tourist Police are the contact for tourists.

On our trips
Ask who leads you, not only what it costs
When two quotes differ, check the guide line first. On HSJ Travel's Nepal trips you are led by our own government-licensed Nepali guides, and the quote lists every line in S$, so you can set it beside another one line by line.
Is Nepal cheaper than Bhutan or Tibet?
The structure differs more than the headline. Bhutan adds a government daily fee on top of the trip, and Tibet needs permits arranged in advance. Nepal's government charges are the small per-person fees set out above, and Nepal trips can be booked close to departure, while Bhutan, Tibet and India need permits and visas arranged in advance. Our Bhutan or Nepal comparison covers cost across the two countries, and our Tibet tour cost guide shows the Tibet lines in S$. Compare quote with quote, not country with country.
How HSJ Travel's Nepal trips fit these costs
Every trip page on hsj.sg shows its days, its from-price in S$ and what the price includes. Check there whether the flight from Changi is part of it, since that is the biggest line in the guide.
- Culture and wellness around Kathmandu: see our Nepal pages.
- Poon Hill: Ghorepani Poonhill Wildlife Trek.
- Annapurna: Annapurna Base Camp Trek.
- Everest region: Everest Base Camp Trek.
How we handle the money: prices are per person in S$ for two sharing. A deposit of 20% of the booking total confirms a place, and the balance is due 30 days before departure. You get one free date change up to 30 days before departure, and dates marked Guaranteed run whatever the number of travellers. At booking you can also add a community donation, suggested at S$2 per traveller per day, passed on in full to the Himalayan Community Project. Write to travel@hsj.sg or call or WhatsApp +65 80961243, Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm Singapore time.
