Pumori
The peak whose lower shoulder, Kala Patthar, is the Everest trek's classic viewpoint.
Pumori rises to 7,161m about 8km west of Mount Everest. Kala Patthar, the rocky viewpoint at 5,643m that most Everest Base Camp trekkers climb for their closest view of Everest, is technically a low outlier on Pumori's south ridge rather than a separate mountain.
Pumori's own name, meaning roughly "Daughter Peak," was given by George Mallory during the early 1920s British Everest reconnaissance expeditions.
