Myagdi

The wild trail to Dhaulagiri, Nepal's most dramatic mountain challenge

Myagdi is home to the Dhaulagiri Circuit, a remote, demanding trek around Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), the world's seventh-highest mountain.

The district's Kali Gandaki valley town of Tatopani offers natural hot springs, a welcome stop for trekkers descending from the high Dhaulagiri or Annapurna routes.

Myagdi remains one of Gandaki Province's least developed trekking districts, appealing to travellers seeking genuine wilderness over established teahouse circuits.

Myagdi

Culture

People & Culture

Myagdi is home to Magar communities across its mid-hill villages, alongside smaller Thakali and Gurung populations near the Kali Gandaki corridor. The district's remoteness and lack of road access into its high valleys have kept trekking numbers low compared to neighbouring Kaski, leaving villages along the Dhaulagiri Circuit largely dependent on subsistence farming rather than tourism.
