Dhaulagiri is an 8,167 metre peak in Myagdi district, the seventh highest mountain in the world and the highest peak located entirely within the borders of a single country. It was first climbed in 1960. On clear days it is visible from high points on the Ghorepani and Poon Hill side of the Annapurna Base Camp trek, on the opposite side of the Kali Gandaki valley from the Annapurna range.
