Syangja
Terraced hillsides, Walling's markets and the gentle heart of Gandaki
Syangja is a terraced mid-hill district between Pokhara and the lowlands, centred on Waling, a market town above the Seti River valley.
The district's gently sloping farmland and river valleys form a quieter, more agricultural counterpart to Kaski's trekking-focused tourism next door.
Syangja's position along the Siddhartha Highway makes it a natural stop between Pokhara and Nepal's western Terai.

People & Culture
Syangja is home to a mix of Brahmin, Chhetri and Magar communities across its terraced hillsides, with farming and remittance income from overseas work shaping much of the district's modern economy. Waling's market serves surrounding villages along the Seti River valley, maintaining Syangja's role as a trading link between Pokhara and the lowlands.
