Banthanti

Banthanti is a small trailside rest stop at about 2,250 metres on the route between Ulleri and Ghorepani, a common lunch break for trekkers before the trail eases into oak and rhododendron forest for the final climb to Ghorepani. The name comes from the Nepali word for a forest rest house.

There are two Banthanti on this circuit, which catches trekkers out regularly: this one lies between Ulleri and Ghorepani, and a second of the same name sits on the far side of Ghorepani on the way to Tadapani. Both are a handful of lodges in forest rather than villages. The woods through here are oak and rhododendron and hold a good range of birds, laughingthrushes among them.
