Ramechhap
Serene valleys and the verdant gateway to Gaurishankar Himal
Ramechhap is a hill district east of Kathmandu, serving as the verdant gateway to Gaurishankar Himal and, at times, as an alternate air link to the Everest region.
Manthali (Ramechhap) Airport has periodically served as a substitute departure point for Lukla flights during Kathmandu's peak air-traffic season, adding a road transfer to the start of an Everest trek.
Beyond this transit role, Ramechhap's terraced valleys and forested ridges offer a quiet, little-visited stretch of Bagmati Province's hill country.

People & Culture
Ramechhap is home to Tamang, Sherpa and hill Brahmin/Chhetri communities across its terraced valleys. The district's farming villages have historically had limited road access, and its recent prominence as a seasonal Lukla flight alternative has brought a small but steady stream of trekkers through Manthali who might otherwise never pass through the district.
