FAQs

Five days is a short break, and this trip treats it as one. It is a premium package built around premium 4-star hotels: three nights at Hotel Barahi Kathmandu on Kantipath, which has its own spa and a rooftop restaurant beside the pool, and one night at a premium 4-star hotel on the hilltop at Nagarkot. Guided yoga, a morning of meditation and a wellness treatment sit between them. It is built for people who want to come home rested, not for people who want to see everything.

Singapore Airlines flies nonstop from Changi to Kathmandu in about five hours, and the flight has recently arrived in the evening, which is why day one asks nothing more of you than a transfer and a quiet night. The late-night service home leaves room on the last day for a short closing practice, if your flight time allows.

Your first full day is spent at three of the valley's great sacred sites: Swayambhunath on its hill above the city, Pashupatinath Temple on the banks of the Bagmati, and Boudhanath Stupa, where pilgrims walk clockwise around the white dome, turning prayer wheels as they go. Your guide explains what you are looking at and how to behave there, which matters more than any list of dates.

Then east to Nagarkot, about 2,175 metres up on the rim of the valley, for a guided yoga session pitched at your level and an evening in the hills. The next morning begins with optional sunrise meditation. On a clear day the Himalaya lines the horizon. On a hazy one you will see cloud, and we would rather say so now. A pre-arranged wellness treatment follows before the drive back to Kathmandu.

Yoga and meditation on this trip are experiences to enjoy, not treatments, and the instructor adapts every session for beginners and regular practitioners alike. Nothing is compulsory, and the afternoons are left open on purpose.

Himalayan Renewal is a premium package with premium 4-star hotels, a dedicated guide and an air-conditioned vehicle with a professional driver, arranged for your own party on dates you choose and quoted on request.

Your itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Kathmandu

Max 1,400 m

Tribhuvan International Airport → Kathmandu

About 5 hrs from Singapore

Short airport transfer

Hotel Barahi Kathmandu

Your escape starts at Changi Airport in the evening. On recent schedules SQ442, a Singapore Airlines nonstop, is due out at about 18:50 for some five hours in the air. Touchdown at Tribhuvan International Airport is around 21:30 local time, and your representative waits for the short drive to Kantipath and Hotel Barahi Kathmandu, a premium 4-star hotel.

A night arrival suits a slow trip: there is nothing to do tonight but check in, unpack and rest. The hotel's spa and rooftop restaurant are there for the days ahead, and Kathmandu, at about 1,400 metres, is usually cooler at night than Singapore, so keep a light layer in your hand luggage.

Summary: SQ442 out of Changi, a night landing and a short ride to Hotel Barahi Kathmandu, where the only plan is sleep.

Kathmandu Sightseeing: Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath and Boudhanath

Max 1,400 m

Short transfers between sites

Hotel Barahi Kathmandu

Breakfast

After breakfast, start in Kathmandu Durbar Square, the old royal square of carved temples and palaces, then climb the long stairway to Swayambhunath, the Buddhist stupa above the city, watched over by resident monkeys. Your guide explains each site's symbolism and etiquette, from walking clockwise to asking before photographing anyone at prayer.

Continue to Pashupatinath Temple on the Bagmati River, Nepal's most revered Shiva shrine, where non-Hindus may visit the ghats and outer shrines but not the main sanctum, and cremations are watched quietly from across the river. End at Boudhanath Stupa, joining the pilgrims who circle its great white dome, turning prayer wheels as they go. The order may change with traffic and opening conditions.

Summary: A guided day at Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath Temple and Boudhanath Stupa, four monument zones of the Kathmandu Valley World Heritage Site.

Hotel Barahi stands on Kantipath, a minute's walk from the Garden of Dreams and three from Durbar Marg. That puts Thamel close enough to walk into on a first evening and far enough back to sleep through.

There are 80 rooms, among them three junior suites and six that interconnect for families. The Deck, on the roof, serves Nepali and international food beside the pool with the city below and the hills behind it, and there is a spa for the evening a trek ends.

FAQs

Is this trip right for you

Himalayan Renewal is a short wellness escape, not a yoga intensive and not a trek. Across five days you have one guided day at Kathmandu's sacred sites, a guided yoga session on arrival in Nagarkot, optional sunrise meditation and morning yoga the next day, a wellness treatment, and a short closing practice if your flight allows. The rest of the time is deliberately left open.

It suits busy professionals, couples and first-time wellness travellers with a long weekend and a couple of days' leave. If you practise regularly and want more time on the mat, the 9-day Himalayan Wellness Journey adds Pokhara, a night in the hill village of Astam and a night at Pharping. If meditation and Buddhist heritage draw you more than yoga, The Sacred Himalayas spends its nights near Pharping and at Namobuddha.

Himalayan Renewal is a premium package with premium 4-star hotels, arranged for your own party on dates you choose, with a dedicated guide and an air-conditioned vehicle with a professional driver. Yoga and meditation here are experiences to enjoy, not medical treatment, and we make no promises about health outcomes.

Know Before You Go

Himalayan Renewal is a premium package with premium 4-star hotels. Your quotation names the Kathmandu hotel, Hotel Barahi Kathmandu, and the premium 4-star stay in Nagarkot is confirmed at booking. The quotation also confirms the meal plan, the yoga and meditation sessions, the type and duration of the wellness treatment, and which entrance fees are included. All travel is by road, so there are no domestic flights. Anything the quotation does not list is not included.

Mountain views from Nagarkot depend on weather and visibility and are never guaranteed. October and November are usually clearest and March and April next, while the June to September monsoon often brings cloud. Sunrise meditation goes ahead either way, and on a grey morning it is simply a quiet sit rather than a view.

Nepal's currency is the Nepalese rupee. Carry some cash for small purchases, temple donations and tips, because smaller shops and stalls rarely take cards. Wi-Fi is normal in city hotels and can be slower in the hills, which some guests treat as part of the point.

Visas & Entry to Nepal

Singapore passport holders can get a tourist visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport. You can complete the online application on the Department of Immigration's portal before you fly and bring the barcode receipt, or fill in the form at the kiosks on arrival. You then pay the fee and take your receipt, form and passport to the immigration desk.

Nepal's embassies list the on-arrival fee as USD 30 for 15 days, USD 50 for 30 days and USD 125 for 90 days. A 15-day visa covers this trip. Bring the fee in clean US dollar notes, as cash is the reliable way to pay. The visa fee is not included in the tour.

Fees and entry rules can change, so check the Department of Immigration's current guidance a few weeks before travel. We will remind you when we confirm your booking.

Flights from Singapore

Singapore Airlines flies nonstop between Changi and Kathmandu in about five hours. In spring 2026 it ran seven flights a week, arriving in Kathmandu in the evening and leaving late at night to land in Singapore early the next morning. Schedules change by season, so check the times for your dates before you book.

The itinerary is built around that pattern. Day one is a transfer and a quiet night, and on day five the late departure leaves room for a short optional practice and a relaxed morning. If your flight lands earlier or leaves earlier, tell us and we will reshape the first and last days rather than squeeze them.

International flights are not included in the tour. Other airlines connect Singapore and Kathmandu through regional hubs if the nonstop does not suit your dates.

Health & Comfort

The highest point on this trip is Nagarkot at about 2,175 metres. It is not a high-altitude journey, but the air is cooler and thinner than in Singapore, and the hilltop is cold before sunrise. If you have a heart, lung or joint condition, or are pregnant, check with your doctor before you travel and tell us when you book.

The yoga sessions are led by a qualified instructor and pitched at your group's level, with modifications for beginners and anyone carrying an injury. Every session is optional. They are offered as an experience to enjoy in a beautiful setting, not as therapy, and we make no claims about health benefits.

Drink bottled or filtered water, and bring any personal medication with you. Travel insurance is your responsibility and is strongly recommended for any trip abroad.

Culture & Etiquette

At Buddhist stupas such as Swayambhunath and Boudhanath, walk clockwise, keeping the stupa on your right, as the pilgrims do. Shoes come off before entering shrines, and covered shoulders and knees are expected at temples, so pack long trousers or a long skirt.

Pashupatinath Temple is an active Hindu site with cremation ghats on the Bagmati. Non-Hindus may visit the ghats and outer shrines but not the main sanctum. Keep a respectful distance from funeral rites, keep your voice low, and do not photograph mourners or cremations. Your guide will tell you where photography is welcome.

The monkeys at Swayambhunath are bold, so keep food out of sight and hold on to loose belongings. A small donation at a shrine is appreciated but never expected.

Our Support

Your dedicated guide is with you on every touring day, and your driver handles every transfer, so you are never left to work out a route or a ticket queue. If you would rather skip a session or rest for an afternoon, say so and the day changes around you.

Before you travel, we help you plan flight timings, visa steps and what to pack, and we confirm your hotels, treatment and instructor in writing. While you are in Nepal, our Kathmandu team is your point of contact for anything your guide cannot sort out on the spot.
