Nagarkot

Nagarkot is a hilltop resort village northeast of Kathmandu, renowned for offering one of the finest views of the Himalayas in the entire Kathmandu Valley region. On clear days, the panorama stretches from Dhaulagiri in the west to Kanchenjunga in the east, including the iconic silhouette of Mount Everest.Popular for sunrise and sunset viewing, hiking, and mountain biking, Nagarkot is a favourite escape for both tourists and Kathmandu residents seeking fresh mountain air and spectacular Himalayan scenery.

Nagarkot sits at about 2,175m on the valley rim, 32km from Kathmandu, and the view tower on the ridge is where most people gather before dawn. Everest is visible from here, but as a small distant point on genuinely clear mornings, most often between October and February; anyone expecting it to dominate the skyline is usually disappointed. The walk down to Changu Narayan takes around three hours through terraced farmland and is the better half of a visit. Bhaktapur is twenty minutes away by road.
