Siddharth Highway Village Circuit

The Siddhartha Highway, connecting Pokhara to Butwal through the Palpa and Syangja hills, passes through some of western Nepal's most scenic and culturally rich countryside. The Village Circuit along this route takes travellers through traditional Magar, Gurung, and Newari communities set amid lush terraced hillsides, waterfalls, and river valleys.This is an ideal route for cyclists, rural trekkers, and travellers interested in exploring Nepal's mid-hill culture away from the main tourist corridors, with numerous homestay opportunities in roadside villages.

The highway itself runs about 180km from Pokhara to the Indian border at Belahiya and was built with Indian assistance, the first road to connect the western hills to the plains. Its high point is the old Newar trading town of Tansen, from where a steep walk down to the Kali Gandaki reaches Rani Mahal, a riverside palace completed in 1893.
