Devghat

Devghat is one of Nepal's most sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites, at the confluence of the Kali Gandaki and Trishuli rivers, which together form the Narayani River. It sits at the tri-junction of Tanahun, Chitwan and Nawalparasi districts, with its central nucleus in Tanahun, and draws pilgrims for ritual bathing, especially on Makar Sankranti.

Devghat is about 5km northwest of Narayangarh and has long been a place people move to in old age, so the settlement is made up largely of ashrams and rest houses rather than ordinary households. Makar Sankranti in mid January is the great bathing day, when the sand banks fill. The standard Trishuli rafting trips from Kathmandu finish just upstream.
