Changu Narayan Temple is one of Nepal's oldest and most historically significant temples, dedicated to Lord Vishnu and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Perched on a forested hilltop east of Bhaktapur, the temple dates back to at least the 4th century and is considered the finest example of early Newari temple architecture.The temple complex is filled with ancient stone sculptures, bronze statues, and inscriptions that document Nepal's early medieval history. The iconic two-storey pagoda with its intricately carved wooden windows and struts is considered a masterpiece of Newari craftsmanship.
