In short

Drukair is the only airline that flies from Singapore to Bhutan on one plane. It leaves Changi Terminal 3 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 12:30 and lands in Paro at 16:45 Bhutan time, about six hours later, after a short stop in Guwahati, India, where you stay on board. You need a Bhutan visa before you fly.

Drukair timetable: Singapore to Paro and back (2026-27)

Drukair went from two to three Singapore flights a week in April 2026 (Drukair Singapore). Its timetables for November and December 2026 and January 2027 show these flights, all in local time:

Guwahati times are Indian time. In January 2027 the Monday and Saturday flights home leave Paro three hours later and land at Changi at 19:00. Drukair's schedule page lists periods up to June 2027; we will add later months here as Drukair publishes the timetables. Each one carries the note "Schedule is subject to change", so check the times on your ticket before you plan the first and last days of your trip.

Did you know? Some older listings still show a 06:00 Tuesday departure from Changi. Drukair's own timetables from November 2026 show 12:30 on all three days.

Trip lengths that fit Drukair's days

The plane flies out and back on different days, so the pair of days you choose sets the length of your trip. Both flight days count as days of the trip:

Travel tip: Fly out on a Thursday and back on a Monday. That is a 5-day trip that uses the weekend and only three days of annual leave.

Is there a direct flight from Singapore to Bhutan?

Yes, but it is direct rather than non-stop. You board one Drukair plane at Changi and get off it in Paro, with no change of aircraft. It lands once, in Guwahati in north-east India, to drop off and pick up passengers. Drukair has flown the route since September 2012, usually with an Airbus A319 (Druk Asia, Drukair’s sales agent in Singapore).

No other airline flies from Singapore to Bhutan. Singapore Airlines and Scoot do not fly to Paro, so any other route means changing planes in Bangkok, Kathmandu or an Indian city.

How long is the flight from Singapore to Bhutan?

About six hours each way including the stop: six hours and 15 minutes out, and about six hours back. Roughly four and a half hours of that is the leg between Singapore and Guwahati. Bhutan is two hours behind Singapore, which is why the clock in Paro shows 16:45 when you land.

What happens at the Guwahati stop

According to Drukair Singapore, passengers normally stay on board, checked bags stay on the plane, and you do not go through Indian immigration, so you generally do not need an Indian visa. The stop lasts about 40 to 45 minutes. Follow the cabin crew's instructions, as the procedure can occasionally change, and if you travel on a passport other than Singapore's, check transit rules with Drukair before you fly.

Checking in for Drukair at Changi

Drukair checks in at Changi Airport Terminal 3, Row 2 (Drukair departure information). Counters open three hours before departure, so at 09:30 for the 12:30 flight, and close an hour before it. Drukair recommends arriving three hours early.

Online check-in opens 72 hours before departure and closes four hours before, on Drukair's website or app, with your six-character booking reference and surname (Drukair web check-in). You still collect your boarding pass and drop your bags at the counter. It is not available for bookings made within 24 hours of the flight, for passengers who need special assistance, or for unaccompanied minors.

At the counter you show your passport, valid for at least six months, your Drukair e-ticket and your Bhutan visa clearance letter.

Before you leave for Changi

  • Passport valid for at least six months after you leave Bhutan
  • Bhutan visa clearance letter, printed or on your phone
  • Drukair e-ticket for both flights
  • Travel insurance that covers medical care and evacuation
  • Any visa you need for a country you fly on to after Bhutan
  • A warm layer in your cabin bag: Paro sits at about 2,200 metres and evenings are cool for most of the year

How much is a flight from Singapore to Bhutan?

Drukair does not publish a standard fare, and its Singapore flights do not show up on Google Flights: a search for Singapore to Paro on 25 October 2026 returned no results for December 2026 or March 2027. You get a price from Drukair, its Singapore agent or your tour operator, and it moves with the season, school holidays and the seats left.

As a guide, published fare guides put a return economy ticket at roughly S$800 to S$1,500: about S$900 on FlightsFinder Singapore in July 2026, S$800 to S$1,200 by season on Manifest Bhutan, and around S$1,500 on average on TheSmartLocal in 2024. Business class is sold on the same flights at a higher fare.

Three ways to book

  • Directly with Drukair on drukair.com (Drukair’s booking guide).
  • Through Druk Asia, which runs Drukair's sales office in Singapore.
  • Together with your trip. When you enquire about one of our Bhutan tour packages from Singapore, we check Drukair seats for your dates so the flights and the itinerary line up.

When Drukair flights from Singapore sell out

Three flights a week on a small aircraft is not much seat capacity, and Drukair's own booking guide warns that "these flights can get sold out quickly". The busiest periods are spring (March to May), autumn (September to November), festival weeks such as Chhukha Tshechu and the Royal Highland Festival, and Singapore's school and public holidays. Our Bhutan trip cost guide has the 2027 holiday dates and the trip lengths that fit each one. Hold the flights before you fix hotels or onward connections: the flight days decide the trip, not the other way round.

Do Singaporeans need a visa for Bhutan?

Yes. Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs says you need a visa before you travel, and Bhutan's Department of Tourism charges a one-off, non-refundable fee of US$40. Most visitors leave the application to their tour operator; you can also apply yourself on Bhutan's official visa website with a digital copy of your passport and a recent photo. Applications are reviewed within five working days, and Drukair asks to see the approval at check-in. Our Bhutan visa guide for Singaporeans covers each step, the documents and when to apply.

You also pay the Sustainable Development Fee, US$100 per adult per night until 31 August 2027 (Department of Tourism announcements), with lower rates for children. Travel insurance stopped being a visa requirement in April 2024 (Daily Bhutan), but you should still have it. On HSJ Travel's Bhutan trips the visa and the SDF are already in the price, and the cost guide breaks down every fee in Singapore dollars.

“Singaporeans are required to obtain a visa before travelling to Bhutan.”

Landing in Paro

Paro is Bhutan's international airport, in a valley ringed by mountains. Pilots fly the final approach by hand and by sight, so flights operate in daylight only and need good visibility. A cloudy morning can delay a departure, so keep the last day of your trip free of tight connections in Singapore.

Why Paro is a famous landing

Paro's runway is about 2,265 metres long, little more than half the length of Changi's 4,000-metre runways, and the mountains around it rise to around 5,500 metres. There is no instrument landing system, and Druk Asia notes that "the descent is always manually flown" (Druk Asia). On a clear day you may see the high Himalaya from the window on the way in.

When you land

Your visa is checked at immigration in Paro International Airport, and your guide meets you outside arrivals. Tourist SIM cards and currency exchange are available at the airport (Manifest Bhutan). Paro town is a short drive away, and Thimphu, the capital, is about an hour by road.

Flying home

Most trips spend the last night in Paro, close to the airport. If cloud delays the flight home, it can leave later in the day or, at worst, on another day, so do not book a tight onward flight from Changi on the same evening, especially on the January 2027 Monday and Saturday flights, which already land at 19:00.

Other ways to fly to Bhutan from Singapore

If the Drukair days do not suit you, you can change planes on the way. Drukair's December 2026 timetable has flights to Paro from these cities:

  • Bangkok: fly Singapore Airlines, Scoot or Thai to Bangkok, then Drukair or Bhutan Airlines to Paro. Bhutan Airlines is the only other airline that flies into Bhutan.
  • Kathmandu: Drukair flies Kathmandu to Paro most days, leaving at 09:00 and landing at 10:20. This is the natural route if you want to see Nepal and Bhutan on one trip.
  • Delhi and Kolkata: Drukair flies to Paro from both, with Delhi most days.
  • Others: Dhaka, Guwahati, Bagdogra and Gaya also have Drukair flights to Paro on some days.

A connection adds hours and often a night on the way, so for most travellers from Singapore the direct Drukair flight is the simplest choice. Overland entry by road from India, through Phuentsholing, is possible but far longer.

Best time to fly from Singapore to Bhutan

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) bring the clearest skies and the best chance of mountain views from the plane, and they are also when Drukair fills up first. December to February is cold and dry, with clear mornings. June to August is the monsoon: the valleys are green, fares can be lower, and morning cloud is more likely to delay flights in and out of Paro. For the year-end school holidays, book as soon as you know your dates, as December departures tend to fill early. Our Bhutan in December guide has the winter weather and festivals.
