FAQs
Five days is not long for Nepal, but you do not need to leave the Kathmandu Valley to understand a great deal of it. UNESCO inscribed the valley in 1979 as a single World Heritage Site made up of seven monument zones: three Durbar Squares, two Buddhist stupas and two Hindu temple complexes. This is a premium package. You stay all four nights at Hotel Barahi Kathmandu, a premium 4-star hotel on Kantipath a minute's walk from the Garden of Dreams, and spend the days on the history, faith and street life of the capital, at a pace that leaves room for long lunches and a free afternoon.
Singapore Airlines flies direct from Changi to Kathmandu in about five hours, and recent schedules land in the evening. That is why the first day is an airport welcome and a quiet night rather than sightseeing. Nepal runs 2 hours 15 minutes behind Singapore, so the body clock barely notices.
The second day belongs to Nepal's monarchy. Narayanhiti Palace was home to the Shah kings until King Gyanendra left it in June 2008, and it opened as a museum after the monarchy was abolished. Your guide takes you through the state rooms and the grounds where the royal family was killed in 2001, subject to the museum's opening schedule, then walks you through the older lanes of central Kathmandu to show how the Newar city was built.
Day three is the heritage day, and it is deliberately not a checklist. From Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath on its hilltop, Boudhanath and Pashupatinath on the Bagmati, you choose two or three with your guide and see them properly. Day four turns to the living city: the spice sacks and small shrines of Asan, Nepalese food, and craft traditions where an artisan visit can be arranged.
The Kathmandu Heritage & Cultural Immersion is a premium package with a premium 4-star hotel, a dedicated cultural guide and an air-conditioned vehicle with a professional driver, arranged for your own party on dates you choose. It is quoted on request, and the quotation confirms the room type, meal plan, transfers and which entrance fees are included.

Walk through Narayanhiti, the palace Nepal's Shah kings lived in until June 2008, which opened as a museum once the monarchy was abolished.
Hear the story of the night in June 2001 when much of the royal family was killed inside the palace, told on the grounds where it happened.
Choose your heritage day from four of the seven monument zones UNESCO inscribed in 1979, rather than racing through all of them in one afternoon.
Circle Boudhanath clockwise with Tibetan pilgrims, beneath one of the largest spherical stupas in the world and the Buddha's eyes painted on all four sides of its tower.
Stand on the east bank of the Bagmati at Pashupatinath, where Hindu cremations take place on the ghats in full view and the evening aarti can be watched by visitors of any faith.
Climb to Swayambhunath on its hill above the city, where prayer flags, monkeys and the whole valley spread out beneath the stupa.
Squeeze through Asan, where several old trade streets meet and traders heap chilli, turmeric and ginger beside a shrine to Annapurna, the goddess of grain.
Stay all four nights at Hotel Barahi Kathmandu, a premium 4-star hotel on Kantipath with a spa and a rooftop restaurant, The Deck, beside the pool.

Hotel Barahi stands on Kantipath, a minute's walk from the Garden of Dreams and three from Durbar Marg. That puts Thamel close enough to walk into on a first evening and far enough back to sleep through.
There are 80 rooms, among them three junior suites and six that interconnect for families. The Deck, on the roof, serves Nepali and international food beside the pool with the city below and the hills behind it, and there is a spa for the evening a trek ends.

FAQs
Is this trip right for you
This is a short cultural tour of the Kathmandu Valley, not a trek. It suits first-time visitors to Nepal, couples, short breaks and anyone curious about how a living city holds its history. You stay all four nights at Hotel Barahi Kathmandu, a premium 4-star hotel, and each sightseeing day is a few hours on foot between short drives, with time built in for meals, shopping and rest.
Five days is enough for a meaningful introduction but not for every heritage site in the valley, and we would rather say so now. The heritage day covers two or three major sites chosen with your guide. If you want Bandipur and Pokhara as well, the 7-day Art of Nepal tour adds them. If Buddhist heritage and Lumbini are the draw, the 9-day Cultural Legacy tour is the better choice.
It is a premium package, arranged for your own party on dates you choose, with a dedicated guide and an air-conditioned vehicle with a professional driver. There are no fixed departures to fit around.
Know Before You Go
Your quotation names your hotel, Hotel Barahi Kathmandu, premium 4-star, and confirms in writing the room type, the meal plan, your airport transfers and which entrance fees are included. Everything on this page assumes daily breakfast only, so check the quotation for any other meals. If something matters to you, ask before you book rather than on arrival.
Opening days in Kathmandu are not fixed for every site. Narayanhiti Palace Museum keeps a limited weekly schedule that has changed over the years, and festivals and state events can close squares or temples at short notice. We check the days for your dates and plan around them, and your guide swaps the order of visits when needed.
Nepal's currency is the Nepalese rupee. Larger hotels and shops take cards, but markets, temple stalls and small cafés work in cash, so carry some small notes. Comfortable shoes that slip on and off easily make temple visits simpler, and a light layer helps on cool mornings and evenings outside the summer months.
Visas & Entry to Nepal
Singapore passport holders can get a Nepal tourist visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport. The fee is US$30 for 15 days, US$50 for 30 days and US$125 for 90 days, and the 15-day visa covers this itinerary. Your passport needs at least six months' validity on entry.
Before you fly, complete the online tourist visa form on the Department of Immigration portal, nepaliport.immigration.gov.np, and keep the confirmation with your passport. Bring the visa fee in US dollars in cash, which is the most reliable way to pay at the airport.
The visa fee is not included in the tour price. Visa rules and fees can change, so check the Department of Immigration shortly before you travel, and we will tell you of any change we hear of when we send your quotation.
Flights from Singapore
Singapore Airlines flies direct between Changi and Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport, a flight of about five hours. Recent schedules show an early evening departure from Singapore that lands in Kathmandu the same evening, which is why Day 1 is a welcome, a transfer and a quiet night. Schedules change by season, so check the current timetable when you book.
Nepal runs 2 hours 15 minutes behind Singapore, so there is little jet lag to manage. International flights are not included in the tour. You can book them yourself and send us the times, and our representative and driver meet you at arrivals and take you back for your departure flight on Day 5.
Health & Comfort
Kathmandu sits at about 1,400 metres, well below the heights trekkers plan for, and this tour involves no hiking. The physical side is walking over uneven stone paving, through crowded market lanes and up the steps to Swayambhunath, with a vehicle never far away. If anyone in your party has limited mobility, tell us when you enquire and we will plan shorter walks.
The city can be dusty and busy with traffic, so a light mask is useful for some travellers. Drink bottled or filtered water rather than tap water, and use hand sanitiser before street snacks. Travel insurance that covers medical treatment and cancellation is strongly recommended and is not included.
Culture & Etiquette
Kathmandu's temples and stupas are places of daily worship, not museums. Walk clockwise around stupas and prayer wheels, as the pilgrims do. Remove your shoes where asked, and dress with shoulders and knees covered at religious sites. Avoid touching offerings, shrines or people's heads.
At Pashupatinath, the main temple is open only to Hindus, and cremations take place on the riverbank in full view. Watch quietly, and do not photograph mourners. Ask before taking anyone's picture in the markets, and expect a smile and a namaste to go a long way.
Your guide explains the religious and historical meaning of each site respectfully, and will tell you where photography or entry is not welcome. If you are unsure, ask. It is always better received than guessing.
Our Support
From your first enquiry, you deal with a team that plans and runs trips in Nepal. We reply with a quotation built around your dates and party, and we tell you plainly what is confirmed and what still depends on opening days or supplier availability.
In Kathmandu, your representative meets you at the airport and your dedicated guide is with you on every sightseeing day. If a site closes unexpectedly, the guide reorders the day, and our local team is reachable throughout your stay for anything the guide cannot solve on the spot.
