Balthali Village

Balthali is a tranquil hilltop village in Kavrepalanchok District offering sweeping views of the Himalayan range and the rolling green hills of the Bagmati Province. Largely undiscovered by mass tourism, the village preserves traditional rural Nepali life and offers a peaceful retreat from the Kathmandu Valley.The surrounding countryside is ideal for gentle nature walks, birdwatching, and cycling, with trails connecting to Panauti, Dhulikhel, and the Roshi River valley.

Balthali stands at about 1,730m on a ridge above the meeting of the Roshi and Ladku streams, and is usually reached on foot from Panauti in two to three hours. Panauti's Indreshwar Mahadev temple, among the oldest surviving structures in the valley, and the hilltop stupa at Namobuddha are both close enough to take in on a single two day loop out of Kathmandu.
