Kopan Monastery is a renowned Tibetan Buddhist monastery and meditation center perched on a hilltop north of Boudhanath in Kathmandu. Founded in the 1970s by Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche, it has become one of the most important centers for Tibetan Buddhism study for Westerners and international students.The monastery offers regular meditation courses, retreats, and teachings in English, and its hilltop setting affords sweeping views over Kathmandu.
