Sacred site of Lord Ram's divine bow
Dhanushadham is a revered religious site in Dhanusha District, believed to be the place where Lord Ram broke Shiva's bow (Dhanush) to win Goddess Sita's hand in marriage. The site holds deep significance in Hindu mythology as described in the Ramayana epic.A sacred temple and pilgrimage complex mark the spot, drawing thousands of devotees especially during auspicious Hindu festivals and the Vivah Panchami celebration.
The site lies about 20km northeast of Janakpur and is marked by a piece of stone that tradition holds to be part of the bow itself, kept under a shelter and said to settle further into the ground each year. Vivah Panchami, in November or December, is the busiest time, and most pilgrims take in the pond at Dhanusa Kunda on the same visit.
