Bhairahawa (Siddharthanagar)

Bhairahawa (officially Siddharthanagar) is the largest city in the western Terai and the main urban gateway to Lumbini, the birthplace of the Buddha. The city has grown rapidly with the construction of Gautam Buddha International Airport, making it the primary air entry point for pilgrims visiting the Buddhist heritage sites of the western Terai.As a border town near the Sunauli crossing with India, Bhairahawa is a busy commercial hub with good hotels, restaurants, and connections to Lumbini, Tansen, Butwal, and Pokhara for onward travel.
