Ridi Bazaar

Sacred riverside town where holy stones are found

Ridi Bazaar is an ancient pilgrimage town in Palpa District on the banks of the Kali Gandaki River, famous as the place where sacred shaligram stones (ammonite fossils revered as forms of Vishnu) are traditionally collected from the riverbed. The Rishikesh Temple, dedicated to Vishnu, is the main pilgrimage center and dates back several centuries. The town's setting in the deep Kali Gandaki gorge, with traditional Newari architecture, riverside ghats, and the spiritual atmosphere of a living pilgrimage site, makes Ridi a memorable and serene destination in western Nepal.
