View all 3 photos
Science Centre Singapore is a hands-on science museum at 15 Science Centre Road in Jurong East, opened in December 1977 and run by the Science Centre Board. Galleries cover physical and life sciences, the Omni-Theatre added in 1987 is an IMAX dome cinema, and KidsSTOP, launched in 2014, is a science centre for children aged 18 months to 8 years. The centre's Observatory draws more than 10,000 astronomy enthusiasts each year.
A replacement Science Centre is being built on the north shore of Jurong Lake, next to Chinese Garden MRT station, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects with Architects 61 and targeted to open around the end of 2027, the centre's 50th anniversary year. The Science Centre Board says the Jurong East building will keep serving visitors until the replacement is ready, and no closing date had been announced as of 15 October 2026. Snow City, the indoor snow centre on the same grounds since 2000, closed on 30 September 2026.
The centre opens Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm, with last admission at 4.15pm, and on Mondays only during public holidays and school holidays. Jurong East MRT station and bus interchange are about an 8-minute walk away.
