Former sand quarry turned reservoir, with a 4.3km loop and water sports
View all 3 photos
Bedok Reservoir is a reservoir in the Bedok planning area, ringed by the 41.7-hectare Bedok Reservoir Park along Bedok Reservoir Road. The site was a sand quarry until 1983, when work began to turn it into a reservoir under the Sungei Seletar-Bedok Water Scheme. PUB completed the reservoir in 1986 and opened it for water activities in 2004.
The main draw is the 4.3km gravel track that loops around the water, used by walkers, joggers and families at all hours since the park is open 24 hours. Other features include a floating deck near the bird singing area, two car parks and the outdoor operator Forest Adventure, while Wawawa bistro sits by the reservoir. PUB runs a self-guided ABC Waters Learning Trail here, where students can try hands-on water quality testing. Bedok Reservoir MRT station on the Downtown Line is about 200m from the park, which also welcomes dogs.
For anyone training for a trek, the 4.3km loop is a flat, measured route for building walking endurance, though it offers none of the hill climbing found at Bukit Timah or the Southern Ridges.
