Chandrapur

Chandrapur is a historically significant town in Rautahat District known for its ancient Chandrapur Devi Temple, one of the revered Shakti shrines in the Madhesh Province. The temple draws pilgrims, especially during Navaratri celebrations.The town's blend of religious heritage and rural Terai landscapes makes it a quiet but spiritually important destination in southern Nepal.

Chandrapur lies on the East West Highway in northern Rautahat, below the Chure hills, which puts it on the through route between Birgunj and the eastern Terai rather than off it. Navaratri, in September or October, is when the shrine is busiest. The district headquarters at Gaur lies south, close to the Indian border.
