The World Peace Pagoda near Lumbini is a gleaming white Japanese-built stupa, one of dozens of peace pagodas constructed around the world by the Japanese Buddhist Nipponzan Myohoji order. Located on the edge of the Lumbini Development Zone, the pagoda overlooks the sacred garden and is a major landmark of the Lumbini pilgrimage circuit.The stupa's pristine white form and golden Buddha statues on each of its four sides create a powerful symbol of peace and non-violence in the landscape of the Buddha's birthplace, drawing pilgrims and visitors from around the world.
