Myanglung
The weaving capital of Nepal — where Dhaka cloth is born
Myanglung is the headquarters of Terhathum District at around 1,400 metres, and is Nepal's most celebrated centre for traditional Dhaka handloom weaving. The intricately patterned Dhaka fabric — used for topis, blouses, shawls, and bags — is woven here in cottage looms by women artisans using techniques passed down for generations. Myanglung's weekly market is famous for Dhaka fabric trade, and several workshops welcome visitors to watch the weaving process and buy directly from artisans. The surrounding hills offer walks through cardamom forests and classic eastern Nepali mid-hill village scenery.
