The hilltop goddess shrine beloved by millions across Nepal and beyond
Pathibhara Devi Temple sits at 3,794 metres above Taplejung town and is one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in eastern Nepal. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Pathibhara (Pathib Bhagawati), a form of Durga, and draws hundreds of thousands of Hindu and Buddhist devotees each year — particularly from Nepal, Darjeeling, and Sikkim. The trek from Taplejung or Phungling involves a 1–2 hour walk through pine forests. On clear days, the temple platform offers stunning views of Kanchenjunga, Makalu, and the eastern Himalayan range.
