Kanchenjunga Base Camp

A remote wilderness trek to the foot of the world's third-highest peak

The Kanchenjunga Base Camp trek leads through the pristine Kanchenjunga Conservation Area to two base camps — South Base Camp (Oktang, 4,700 m) and North Base Camp (5,143 m) — beneath Kanchenjunga, the world's third-highest mountain at 8,586 metres. This restricted-area trek requires a special permit and a licensed guide, and rewards travellers with an extraordinary wilderness experience through rhododendron forests, glacial moraines, and high yak pastures virtually untouched by mass tourism. The full circuit connecting both base camps takes 18–22 days from Taplejung.
