Muktinath Temple

Muktinath Temple is one of the most sacred pilgrimage destinations in the Himalayas, revered by both Hindus and Buddhists at an altitude of 3,710 metres in Mustang District. Hindus worship it as one of the 108 Vishnu Divya Desams, while Buddhists venerate the eternal flame fed by natural gas seeping through the earth.The temple complex features 108 bull-headed water spouts from which pilgrims ritually bathe, a sacred pond, and a Buddhist gompa housing bronze statues. The dramatic high-altitude landscape of the Mustang plateau surrounding the shrine adds to the experience's profound spiritual atmosphere.
