Kagbeni

Kagbeni is a compact, atmospheric medieval village at the confluence of the Kali Gandaki and Jhong rivers in Mustang District, serving as the last village before the restricted area of Upper Mustang begins. The village's labyrinthine mud-brick alleys, ancient red-walled gompa, and stunning high-desert backdrop create one of the most visually arresting scenes in Nepal.The village's position where the deep Kali Gandaki gorge meets the Mustang plateau gives it both strategic historical importance and dramatic natural framing. The Kag Chode Thupten Samphel Ling Gompa is one of the valley's most atmospheric monasteries.
