Wind-swept capital of the Mustang plateau
Jomsom is the administrative headquarters of Mustang District, a wind-swept high-altitude town on the banks of the Kali Gandaki River at 2,720 metres. It serves as the main hub for both trekking and flights in the Mustang region, with a domestic airport connecting it to Pokhara.The town is famous for its powerful daily afternoon winds that roar up the Kali Gandaki gorge, its apple orchards producing some of Nepal's finest apples and apple brandy, and as the starting point for treks to Muktinath and Upper Mustang.
