Ghanpokhara

Ghanpokhara is a little-known hilltop village in Lamjung District, perched at around 1,700 metres and offering stunning panoramic views of the Annapurna, Lamjung Himal, and Manaslu ranges. The village is surrounded by dense rhododendron and oak forests and is home to Gurung communities with rich cultural traditions.Relatively off the beaten trekking path, Ghanpokhara offers an authentic experience of mid-hill Nepal, with traditional homestays, organic farms, and access to community forests ideal for nature walks and birdwatching.

Ghanpokhara sits above Besisahar on the walking route that was the standard approach into the Marsyangdi valley before the road reached Chame. Its Gurung households run rooms under the same community homestay scheme as neighbouring Ghale Gaun, where visitors stay in family houses rather than lodges, and the two villages are usually walked together over two or three days.
