1,070m trailhead town where most Annapurna Sanctuary treks begin
Nayapul (1,070m) is the roadhead most Annapurna Base Camp and Poon Hill treks start and end from, a short drive from Pokhara. Trekkers register their ACAP permits nearby before setting off on foot toward Birethanti and beyond.
The name means new bridge, after the span over the Modi Khola that the road crosses here. It is about 42km from Pokhara, an hour and a half by road. The trailhead has been creeping up the valley as the road is extended, so parties that once walked from Nayapul are now often driven on towards Tikhedhunga or Ghandruk. Ask which when you book, because it changes the first day considerably. Birethanti is twenty minutes on foot.
