Indrawati River Rafting

The Indrawati River in Sindhupalchok District offers exciting whitewater rafting through scenic river valleys and forested gorges northeast of Kathmandu. The river provides a mix of Grade III to IV rapids suitable for both beginner and intermediate rafters looking for an adrenaline adventure close to the capital.Rafting trips on the Indrawati typically run from Melamchi Bazar to the confluence with the Sun Koshi, passing through rural villages and pristine river corridors surrounded by terraced hillsides.

The Indrawati rises below the Jugal Himal and joins the Sun Koshi at Dolalghat, about 60km from Kathmandu on the road east. Most trips run half a day to a full day, which makes it one of the few Nepali rivers that can be rafted and returned from to the capital between breakfast and dinner. Water is highest from June to September and drops considerably by winter.
