Chitlang

Chitlang is a scenic village in Makwanpur District, tucked into a quiet valley accessible by a traditional trekking route through the Chandragiri Hills from Kathmandu. The village is a popular destination for a one or two-day escape into the peaceful Pahad countryside away from the capital's bustle.The valley is lush, green, and dotted with organic farms and traditional Newari homesteads, offering visitors a taste of rural hill life and gentle trekking through forested ridges.

Chitlang is reached over the Chandragiri ridge from Thankot on foot in four to five hours, or by road around through Kulekhani. It lay on the main route between Kathmandu and the plains before the Tribhuvan Highway opened in 1956, and the village now keeps a goat cheese dairy and small vineyards that sell into the capital. The Kulekhani reservoir lies below it.
