View all 3 photos
Pasir Ris Park is a 70-hectare coastal park stretching over 3.2km along Singapore's north-east shore in the Pasir Ris planning area, between Pasir Ris Road and Jalan Loyang Besar. NParks highlights its 6-hectare mangrove area, explored from a boardwalk or a birdwatching tower, and lists pony rides, water sports and what it calls Singapore's largest playground among the park's draws.
In the mangroves, look for Giant Mudskippers and mud lobsters, whose burrows form volcano-like mounds, among trees such as Bakau Minyak, Api-Api Putih and Nipah Palm. From the birdwatching tower, White-collared Kingfishers and Black-naped Orioles can be seen, with Blue-throated Bee-eaters between April and September. Elsewhere, the Kitchen Garden grows plants with culinary or medicinal uses such as lady's finger and cocoa, the Maze Garden suits children, a butterfly garden draws Plain Tigers, and 65 barbecue pits line the beach.
The park is open 24 hours and is wheelchair accessible. Pasir Ris MRT station is the nearest train stop, and drivers reach it via Elias Road and Pasir Ris Green, with five car parks. NParks advises precautions against box jellyfish for anyone entering the water and warns visitors not to approach crocodiles in coastal areas.
