Henderson Waves

Singapore's tallest pedestrian bridge, 36 m above Henderson Road

Henderson Waves is a pedestrian bridge in Telok Blangah Hill Park, south-west Singapore, that carries the Southern Ridges over Henderson Road between Mount Faber and Telok Blangah Hill. NParks calls it the tallest pedestrian bridge in Singapore: it stands 36 m above the road and is 274 m long and 8 m wide, and its wave shape comes from seven curved ribs that rise above and dip below the wood-panelled deck. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong officially opened it, together with Alexandra Arch, on 10 May 2008.

NParks says the bridge was built to improve connectivity between the nature areas along the Southern Ridges, and most visitors cross it as part of that route rather than as a stop on its own. From the east, the usual approach is from HarbourFront MRT station up the Marang Trail and across Mount Faber Park; from the west, it follows on from Telok Blangah Hill Park and the elevated Forest Walk. LED lights illuminate the bridge from 7pm to 2am daily, which makes an evening crossing worthwhile. Since 14 January 2025 a section of the Mount Faber Loop footpath has been closed after a slope failure, and NParks directs pedestrians to signed alternative routes between Henderson Waves and Mount Faber Peak.

Walkers using the Southern Ridges to train for a Himalayan trek usually pass over the bridge mid-route, between the stair climbs of Mount Faber and Telok Blangah Hill.
