Gardens by the Bay

Free outdoor gardens and Supertrees, with ticketed cooled conservatories

View all 3 photos

Gardens by the Bay is a waterfront garden at Marina Bay, and its largest section, Bay South in Marina South, opened in 2012 next to the Marina Bay Sands resort. Bay South holds the 18 Supertrees, vertical gardens that rise up to 50 metres, the tallest about the height of a 16-storey building, and two cooled conservatories: the Flower Dome, listed by Guinness World Records in 2015 as the largest glass greenhouse, and the Cloud Forest. Bay East and Bay Central make up the other two of its three waterfront gardens.

The outdoor gardens are free to enter and open daily from 5am to 2am, covering the Supertree Grove, the Serene Garden, the Sun Pavilion, the Heritage Gardens, the World of Plants and the Dragonfly and Kingfisher Lakes. Tickets are needed for the Flower Dome, the Cloud Forest, the OCBC Skyway, a walkway 22 metres up among the Supertrees, and the Supertree Observatory on the tallest tree. Every evening at 7.45pm and 8.45pm the Supertrees light up for Garden Rhapsody, a free light and sound show. Each paid attraction closes for maintenance on set days, roughly once a month for the conservatories and never both at once, and the official site lists the dates. Gardens by the Bay MRT station on the Thomson-East Coast Line opens straight into the gardens, while Bayfront station connects by an underground linkway and the Dragonfly or Meadow Bridge.
