Lahan

Lahan is a prosperous commercial city in Siraha District, known as one of the fastest-growing urban centers in eastern Nepal's Terai. It serves as a major trading hub connecting the hill districts with the plains and the Indian border.The city has a diverse population and lively bazaars, reflecting the cosmopolitan nature of the Terai's mercantile communities.

Lahan's best known institution is the Sagarmatha Choudhary Eye Hospital, one of the highest volume eye hospitals anywhere, which draws patients across the border from Bihar in numbers that shape the town's whole economy. The city stands on the East West Highway in Siraha, and its bazaars trade in the grain, jute and sugarcane grown on the surrounding plain.
