Okhaldhunga Bazaar

A quiet mid-hill town with sunrise Himalayan views and fresh mountain air

Okhaldhunga Bazaar is the headquarters of Okhaldhunga District, set at around 1,700 metres in the mid-hills of eastern Nepal. The town is the birthplace of the revered Nepali poet Siddhicharan Shrestha, and a small memorial to him is maintained in the bazaar area. The weekly Saturday market brings together Rai, Magar, and Chhetri communities from surrounding villages for one of the most authentic mid-hill market experiences in eastern Nepal. The surrounding ridge provides morning views of Numbur Himal and, on exceptional days, the distant Everest massif.
