Dhankuta Bazaar

Dhankuta Bazaar is the headquarters of Dhankuta District at 1,220 metres, one of the cleanest and best-administered hill towns in eastern Nepal. The town is famous across Nepal for its citrus orchards — particularly mandarins and oranges — which clothe the surrounding hillsides in fruit from November onwards. Dhankuta has a proud civic culture with well-maintained streets, a lively market area, and strong connections to the British Gurkha tradition (the British Gurkha Welfare Centre is located nearby). The town makes an excellent base for exploring the eastern hills and watching the sunset over the Koshi Valley below.
