Bhojpur Bazaar

The historic hill bazaar famed for hand-forged khukuri knives

Bhojpur Bazaar is the district headquarters of Bhojpur and one of the most culturally distinctive hill towns in eastern Nepal. The town has been famous for centuries for its master blacksmiths who forge the iconic khukuri — the curved knife of the Gurkhas — using traditional techniques passed down through generations. The bazaar sits on a ridge at around 1,600 metres with sweeping views of the Makalu and Numbur Himal ranges. A visit to the knife-making workshops, the local Baraha temple, and the Saturday market offers an authentic window into artisan hill life.
