Sinja Valley

Sinja Valley in Jumla District is a site of exceptional historical and linguistic importance — it is recognized as the birthplace of the Nepali language (Khas Kura) and the seat of the ancient Sinja Kingdom that ruled much of the Himalayan region from the 12th–14th centuries. The valley contains the ruins of the Sinja capital, including ancient stone temples, inscriptions, and architectural remains.The Sinja Valley has been nominated for UNESCO World Heritage status due to its outstanding cultural and historical significance. The remote valley is surrounded by beautiful high-altitude landscapes and reached via a scenic trek from Jumla.
