Phoksundo Gorge

The Phoksundo Gorge in Dolpa District is the approach route to Shey Phoksundo Lake through one of the most spectacular gorges in all of Nepal. The trail winds along the Phoksundo River through a narrowing canyon where the turquoise river plunges over dramatic waterfalls including the 107-metre Phoksundo Falls — one of the highest waterfalls in Nepal.The gorge trail passes through subtropical forest at lower elevations and transitions through dramatic rocky terrain to the high plateau at Ringmo and the lake, offering a journey through astonishing ecological and geological diversity.
