Sinuwa

Sinuwa (2,360m) is a small ridge-top stop just beyond Chhomrong, where the trail forks toward Khuldi Ghar and on into the Modi Khola gorge leading to the Annapurna Sanctuary. It marks the point where the forest closes in and the route to Bamboo and Dovan begins in earnest.

Reaching Sinuwa from Chhomrong means dropping to the river and then climbing the long stone flight trekkers know simply as the Chhomrong stairs, which has to be done again in reverse coming down. There is an upper and a lower Sinuwa a few minutes apart. A permit checkpoint sits on the trail here. Beyond it the route commits to the gorge, with no side exit until Deurali.
