Attraction
Gorkha Durbar
Birthplace of Nepal's unification and the Shah dynasty
Gorkha Durbar is the historic palace-fortress complex perched on a cliff above Gorkha town, birthplace of Prithvi Narayan Shah — the visionary king who unified Nepal in the 18th century. The palace complex houses the Gorakhkali Temple, considered the tutelary deity of the Shah royal family, and offers sweeping views of the Buri Gandaki River valley and the Manaslu range. The climb to the Durbar through stone-paved steps past traditional townhouses is an experience in itself. The site is one of Nepal's most historically significant heritage destinations outside the Kathmandu Valley.
