The Tibetan side of Everest Base Camp sits at around 5,150m near Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world, and, unlike the Nepal side, is reached by vehicle rather than a multi-day trek. From the viewpoint, the North Face of Everest rises directly ahead, with none of the intervening ridgelines that partly obscure the view from some points on the south side.
The base camp itself is a seasonal tented settlement rather than a permanent site, and access can be restricted at short notice depending on conditions and permit policy, so this stop is always confirmed as part of a licensed itinerary rather than visited independently.
