Singapore Cable Car

Harbour cable car linking Mount Faber, HarbourFront and Sentosa since 1974

The Singapore Cable Car is an aerial ropeway that starts at Mount Faber Peak on Mount Faber Road, in the Bukit Merah planning area, and crosses Keppel Harbour to Sentosa. Deputy Prime Minister Goh Keng Swee opened the original 1.75 km line on 15 February 1974, and more than 1,000 people queued for rides when it opened to the public the next day. On 29 January 1983 the derrick of the drillship Eniwetok struck the cableway and two cabins fell, killing seven people, and service resumed on 15 August 1983 after repairs and tests. A monocable system replaced the old ropeway during a closure from September 2009 to July 2010, and a second line within Sentosa opened on 14 July 2015.

Mount Faber Leisure, the operator, runs both lines. The Mount Faber Line links Mount Faber, HarbourFront and Sentosa stations, and riders change at Sentosa station for the Sentosa Line, which runs to Sensoryscape, Imbiah Lookout and Siloso Point. The longer line passes high over the harbour and the HarbourFront waterfront, and in March 2024 seven glass-bottomed SkyOrb cabins joined the fleet of 67. Stations open from 8.45am to 10pm daily, with last boarding at 9.30pm, and each line closes for about a week of annual maintenance, which in 2026 fell in September. HarbourFront station sits in HarbourFront Tower 2, a short walk from HarbourFront MRT station, while Mount Faber station stands at the top of Mount Faber Park.
