Rail Corridor
A 24 km green trail on the old railway line, centred on Bukit Timah station
The Rail Corridor is a 24 km green trail along the line of the former Malayan railway through Singapore, running from Woodlands in the north to Tanjong Pagar in the south. Its best known landmark is the former Bukit Timah Railway Station on Bukit Timah Road, in the Bukit Timah planning area, built in 1932 and one of two railway station buildings left in Singapore. The last trains passed the station on 30 June 2011. NParks opened the restored station as a community node on 1 July 2022, and the Rail Corridor (North) opened on 8 February 2023, giving more than 21 km of continuous trail from opposite Kranji MRT station to Spooner Road.
Inside the station, a heritage gallery shows track switching levers, a ticketing booth and a replica signals diagram in the Signal Room, which can be viewed from the doorway, while the old staff quarters hold a café. The trail is open 24 hours but is not lit at night, and NParks asks users to leave by nightfall. From March 2026 the southern section between Henderson Road and Spooner Road is closed for trail works, with completion expected by 31 July 2027. King Albert Park MRT station, Exit A, is about five minutes' walk from the station.
Before a trek in Nepal or Bhutan, the corridor is a fair place to build distance and hours on your feet, but it is largely flat, so pair it with stair or hill sessions for climbing fitness.
