Suda Gadhi Fort
Ancient hilltop fortress of the far western kingdom
Suda Gadhi Fort is a historic hilltop fortress in Kanchanpur District, one of the most important historical monuments in far western Nepal. The fort was the seat of the ancient Suda Kingdom, one of the medieval hill kingdoms of the far west that controlled the passes and valleys of the Mahakali River region. The ruined fort walls and structures on the commanding hilltop offer panoramic views over the Kanchanpur Terai and Shuklaphanta plains, and the site is an important piece of the puzzle of far western Nepal's pre-unification history.
